World Snake Day was observed by Snake Helpline. On this occasion, an awareness program was organised for students at Odisha Adarsha Vidyalaya, Kusumi, under Kukudakhandi block. Snake Helpline coordinator Swadhin Kumar Sahu explained, through a PPT presentation, about the types of snakes found in the district, whether they are venomous or non-venomous, what to do in case of a snake bite, and how to identify snakes.

Similarly, Snake Helpline members Tara Prasad Das and P. Aurobindo Desi behera worked to remove superstitions related to snakes from the minds of the students. The program was coordinated by Madhusudan Mishra, while Sagar Prasad Patra of Berhampur Sabuja Bahini managed the stage.

An interactive question-and-answer session was also held between the students and Snake Helpline members, where students’ doubts and misconceptions were addressed effectively.

The awareness program helped students develop a better understanding of snakes and their importance in maintaining ecological balance. It also encouraged them to respond responsibly and scientifically instead of believing in fear and superstition.Such initiatives play an important role in promoting wildlife conservation and building harmony between humans and nature.
