On the occasion of Holi, an innovative initiative was undertaken by Sabuj Bahini, Berhampur to help keep trees disease-free.

On the auspicious occasion of Dola Purnima and Holi, Sabuj Bahini celebrated the festival in a unique way by playing Holi with trees. Holi is known as a festival of brotherhood, strengthening love and harmony among people through the application of colors. However, Sabuj Bahini extended this spirit to trees, emphasizing that trees are living beings and deserve care and affection. The initiative aimed to spread awareness among people about the importance of protecting trees.

Since humans and trees coexist in nature, efforts were made to strengthen this relationship. A natural mixture prepared from neem leaves, turmeric, cow dung, and lime powder was used as eco-friendly Holi color and applied to trees. This was done because termites and other insects often infest the roots, causing trees to weaken, break, and die prematurely. The application of this natural mixture helps protect trees and ensures their long-term survival.
